At the margin, the benefit of more accurate valuation should equal the cost of preparing the disclosure. The cost of meeting the new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosure proposals related to sustainability will be significant, but the information provided will do little to help investors more accurately assess the impact of climate change on corporate value.
